Head
Rnd 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in 1st ch. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc of rnd 1 (12 sc)
Rnd 3: 2 sc in each sc around (24 sc)
Rnd 4-10: sc in each st around
Rnd 11: sc 2 tog around
Rnd 12:(begin nose shaping) sc around
Rnd 13: sc 2 tog, sc in next 2, sc 2tog 2x. sc in 2, sc 2tog (8)
Rnd 14: sc around
Rnd 15: sc2tog around, sl st in next st. fasten off leaving tail. Stuff head and
thread tail.
Gather nose opening and sew shut.
Ears
Make 2
Row 1: Ch 7, sc in 2nd ch and across, ch 1 turn (6)
Row 2: sc2tog, sc in next 2, sc2tog, ch 1 turn (4)
Row 3: sc2tog 2x, ch 1 turn (2)
Row 4: 2 sc in each st , ch 1 turn (4)
Row 5: 2 sc in 1st , sc in 2, 2 sc in next, ch 1 turn (6)
Row 6: sc across, ch 1 turn (6)
Fold ear over in half and sl st row 6 to bottom loop of row 1. fasten off leaving tail.
Use
tail to sew ears in place on head using the photograph as a guide
Embroider nose and mouth with either yarn or DMC floss (I have found this
makes a better nose). For the eyes, I used Darice animal eyes in size 6mm. This
all black eye has a flat back. I glued the eye on. Of course, if you are planning to
give this teddy to a young child, I would recommend using a French knot for the
eyes.
Body
Rnd 1: ch 2, 10 sc in 1st ch
Rnd 2: 2 sc around (20)
Rnds 3-7: sc around
Rnd 8: sc in 5, 2 sc in next, sc in 8, 2 sc in next, sc in 5 (22)
Rnd 9-20: sc around
Rnd 21: sc2tog around, sl st in next st. fasten off, leaving tail. Stuff body and use
tail to
gather the opening and sew shut.
Legs
Make 2
Rnd 1: ch 4, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next, 3 sc in last ch, working on other
side of
ch, sc in next, 2 sc in next (8)
Rnd 2: 2 sc around (16)
Rnd 3: sc in next 3, sc2tog, sc3tog 2x, sc 2 tog, sc in next 3 (10)
Rnd 4: sc around
Rnd 5: 2 sc in 1st st, sc in 8, 2 sc in last (12)
Rnd 6-12: sc around
Rnd 13: sc2tog around, sl st in next st, fasten off leaving tail. Stuff leg and gather
and
sew closed with tail.
Arms
