This quilt uses a patchwork pattern called "Mosaic" from Caulfield's 1882 Needlework Dictionary. The early 1960 colouring reminded me of cha-cha-cha lessons taken by a frind of my mother's, Eloise. Was it a flying carpet? Maybe it had a different kind of magic? This is my interpretation. The design inforporates Jewish and Muslim motifs. I took the liberty of mixing motifs from different periods, to express a universal and timeless prayer for peace.
