|
The Story of Finnegan J. Parks
Finnegan, Finn as he is affectionately referred to by his current humans, was born in February of 2008 and is a very energetic Yorkshire Terrier pup weighing in at around 6 or 8 pounds. He has been neutered and as of the time of this writing he is due for his 2009 vaccinations. (Depending how long it takes to find him the best home possible, his vaccines may be taken care of.) Hes been on a year-round heartworm preventive called Heartgard but has not had his August dose since we were intending to replenish our stock when we got his shots. To the best of our knowledge, he is quite healthy. The only issue he has ever had is having to have a tooth extracted which the veterinarian found while he was doing his neuter surgery and we chose to have that done at the same time. Poor baby! Hes never been around children but he does get along well with other animals as he shares our home with a Boxer. Potential new owners should be aware however that Finn is definitely the Alpha animal in the bunch. Also, he has always been fed separately from our other dogs. He loves to play ball and although he doesnt get walked on a daily basis he enjoys walking on his leash. With some consistency, hed quickly be walking on his leash obediently each and every time. As is typical of Yorkies, Finn is very smart and sometimes it gets him in trouble. Hes not afraid of much as is typical of this breed. He is partially housebroken in that he is mostly confined to a certain area of our home and has the full run of our fenced in backyard. He hasnt had much unsupervised access to the rest of our house due to an elderly dog we had during Finns entire time with us who we just recently had to have put down. This older dog never really accepted Finn so circumstances being what they were, Finn has been confined to our kitchen and sun room for the most part. Given free reign especially somewhere new we cant guarantee he wont have an accident but he does know to let you know when he needs out.
Finns new owners would get his crate, his toys, his collar & leash, and his bed. With enough notice, we would have Finn bathed and presentable for his new family but without his vaccinations being updated we couldnt get him professionally groomed prior to. Depending on his new owners preference on a Yorkies appearance, hes just now in need of a haircut since his last one in the Spring. Over the last couple of weeks, its occurred to me that hes starting to look like a hippie!
Overall, Finn is a good boy but he needs more attention that we can give him. We both work a lot of hours and he is needier than our Boxer girl. She does just fine with minimal interaction for a couple of days if we are busier than usual, but Finn does not. Finding him a new home where he can be the best dog possible has been a difficult decision but we both believe its the right thing to do.
