Ruffle Shrug

GAUGE:
22 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in K2, p2 rib. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES:
Work back and forth on circular needle as if working on straight needles.
SHRUG
Cast on 130 sts.
Row 1: *K2, p2; rep from * across.
Rep Row 1 until piece measures 24 in. (61 cm) from beginning. Bind off.
FINISHING
Fold piece in half (bringing cast-on edge to meet bound-off edge) to form an 11 x 24 in. (28 x 61 cm) rectangle.
Leaving 6 in. (15 cm) below fold open for armhole, seam one 11 in. (28 cm) open side for 5 in. (12.5 cm). Rep on opposite side.
Ruffle
From RS, pick up and knit 284 sts evenly spaced along the edge of the open side opposite fold.
Join, being careful not to twist. Place marker for beg of rnd.
Rnd 1: *K1, k into front and then back of next st; rep from * around 426 sts.
Next rnd: *K3, p3; rep from * around.
Rep last rnd until Ruffle measures about 1 1/2 in. (3.8 cm). Bind off. Weave in ends.
