Scarf: unstretched about 90 cm circumference, about
47cm in height.
Hat: to fit about 52-56 cm head.
All measurements are in centimetres (cm). For approximate
inch sizes simply multiply by 0.4 (or divide
by 2.54).
Materials: Schachenmayr/SMC Bravo Color, for the
scarf 300 g, and for the hat 100 g #02083 mineral
jacquard.
For the scarf: 1 long 3-4 mm circular needle.
For the hat: five 3-4 mm double-pointed needles.
Rib pattern: alt K2, P2.
Stocking stitch: in rounds knit all sts.
Tension: in Rib Patt unstretched 33 sts and 28
rounds; in st-st 21 sts and 30 rounds, each to 10 cm.
METHOD
Scarf: Cast on 300 sts, join to a round and work in
Rib Patt. When work measures about 47 cm (= 131
rounds) cast off all sts in Rib Patt.
Beanie
With the double-pointed needles cast on 104 sts
(= 26 sts on each needle), join to a round and work 5
cm (= 14 rounds) Rib Patt. Cont in st-st; on 1st round
inc 28 sts evenly across (= make 1 knitways tbl each
time) = 132 sts.
When work measures 21 cm (= 63 rounds) from cuff
start to dec as foll: on foll round * K2, K2 tog, rep from
H throughout = 99 sts. On foll round * K2, K2 tog, rep
from * throughout, K3 = 75 sts. On foll round * K1,
K2 tog, rep from * throughout = 50 sts. On foll round
* K1, K2 tog, rep from * throughout, K2 = 34 sts. On
foll round K2 tog 17 times = 17 sts. On foll round K2
tog 8 times, K1 = 9 sts. Cut thread, bring through the
9 sts 2 times, pull up firmly and darn away.
Height of hat about 28 cm.
