FootFeet45 reporting for duty sir/ma'am!!!
I'm sorry na krub everybody. I got back to Houston since Sunday leaw ja.
Until now, my brother and I still go to bed very early in the evening and wake up around 3:00am every day because of jet lag. I get very sleepy at work every day.
Right now I feel very bad for my brother. He came from a crowded family (our family) and a busy-all-the-time environment, and now he has to stay home all day with almost no one to interact with until school starts 2 weeks from now. Internet is pretty much his only way to communicate with the outside world during the day (because I have to come to work and cant stay home with him). So he has pretty much taken over my laptop and stayed online chatting via MSN Messenger with his friends in Thailand all day and night (good thing the internet providers here do not charge fee per connection or minutes used 5555555). I have to let him use the computer freely and not trying take it away from him so I can use it.
Those are the two reasons Ive been rather quiet in this kratoo na. Sorry ja.
As for Tank, when I first saw him, he had a pretty severe skin condition on his chest and back just like my roommate described to me while I was in Thailand. His ears were quite dirty. By the look, he had also gained some weight, and his rear legs had obviously become a little weaker than before due to inadequate exercise. I felt really bad to see his health deteriorated so drastically because I wasnt able to care for him myself during the 3 weeks I left him with my roommate. The most disturbing thing was that I found out that he had been fed only once a day while I was gone due to my roommates misunderstanding. Normally, I split his one-day portion into two meals, so he doesnt have to feel hungry at anytime during the day or night, and I thought I explained that to my roommate very thoroughly already before I left. Apparently, I didnt do a good enough job explaining.
Anyway, Tank survived. The first thing I did for him was cleaning his ears and put him on his regular diet. Then on Tuesday after work, I took him to see the vet (the same cute vet at Banfield Clinic inside Petsmart whom I talked about long time ago). Its also time for him to get his vaccinations for rabies and others diseases (I knew this because the vet had sent me a reminder postcard just before I left for Thailand).
The clinic was offering a wellness plan for dogs with a promotion of 50% discount on the enrollment fee and membership fee for the plan is $12/month. Basically, the plan states that I can bring Tank to see the vet anytime without being charged the vet fee, and well also get discounts on other services. The deal sounded good to me, so I enroll Tank to the plan, and well try it for a year to see it its worth the money.
Anyway, the nurse took Tank into the lab in the back room where owners arent allowed. They performed several tests on him such as heartworm detection test (its time for a check up on this, too) and skin test (they scraped his skin for some cells to look under the microscope to see if there are any mites that might caused his skin rash). The results are that hes negative for heartworm, and there werent any mites on his skin. So the vet concluded that Tanks skin condition was a result of his allergy to either the changing weather or pollen (I forgot to ask her what exactly hes allergic to). She said she had been seeing a lot of dogs with this condition lately (its spring season here right now). As a result, she prescribed some antibiotic (although theres no visible infection, but she did that anyway for some reasons), some allergy medicine (something like Claritin but for dogs), and a bottle of spray that helps reduce the itch. She told me to give all of these to Tank twice a day. Then, we came home with $170 missing from my wallet (damn you, Tank).
As for his rear legs, the vet said that I should keep observing them for a couple of weeks because she didnt feel anything strange on his hips that would indicates that he has hip dysplasia. She said that I should bring him back to her if he started limping (which he hasnt).
Now Im taking a very good care of him hoping that his conditions will get better quickly. The doctor said that it might take about a couple of weeks for his coat to get back to being full and shiny like before. Tank himself is showing a very good sign of healing because he has stopped scratching already. And more importantly, he seems to be a lot happier than when I first saw him on Sunday.
