Nothing to worry ka'. : ) Try to sleep tight on the plane ka'. Make sure you get an immigration and a custom form on the plane. Fill them out correctly.
I don't remember O'Hare that well ka'. (^^!) But here is my general suggestion ka'. Make sure you know where you have to go, know your flight schedule and keep looking at the signs at the airport
Here is where you basically have to go thru ka' (like others above said.)
Get of the plane, Baggage Claim, Immigration, Custom, Connecting Flight Check Point, Terminal
At any airport of entry or O'Hare in your case after you get off the plane you just walk to Baggage Claim to pick up your checked luggage. This part is easy you can just follow other passengers ka'.
After grab your luggage go to Immigration, get in line for foreigner. Show your passport and answer their questions.
Then go to custom. If there is nothing to declare, go to green line.
After you pass the custom, you have to have your luggage re-checked again ka'. Look for UA staff and tell them that you have a connecting flight ka'.
After that check your flight schedule including terminal and gate at the montor at the aiport AGAIN na ka. DON'T TRUST the boarding pass you have got from BKK.
3 hours is more than enough ka'. But my suggestion is go to your terminal first. After that you can walk around, look at the store, relax, freshen up, take a photo etc. And about half hour before boarding time, check the status of your flight at the monitor again ka'
Check out the terminal map at O'Hare here ka'.

Sorry it's long ka'. But hope you enjoy your flight na ka. Nothing to worry ka'. Oh! and have you checked what movies or songs will be playing on your flight on UA website? (^^) Just in case coz you might want to take a book w/ you ka'
