K. AT,
I hope your son is fully recuperated by now. I wish him regains his health swiftly. Children are amazingly resilient they tend to bounce back to normalcy fast. Im sure your son will be the same.
I know it all too well how expensive the health care cost in this country can be. Nine years ago, I had a minor surgery. I was admitted as an outpatient in the morning. The same afternoon around 1:30 pm, I was discharged. The cost
..almost 6,000. Luckily, the procedure was covered.
With the exuberant cost, and is steadily climbing, many Americans, 44 millions, are living without health insurance. And the number is getting larger. Firms in America are pushing the responsibility back to employees. My co., for example, employees have to face with the increase in premium roughly 20 - 25% per year for the last 5 years. Mean while, the annual pay raises are at a crawling rate of 3 5%. My friends told me that this year no body gets higher than 3%.
The example above is far from unique. It happens everywhere. Yesterday, I listen to the news discussing that the income for average Americans, when take inflation into consideration, have in fact been going down. The pundits stated that the average income, in real term, is comparative to the late 1980s. Health care cost is one of the major contributors. It has risen disproportionately to the earnings.
My co. has been brought to court on this health care matter. When retirees were offered early retirements 10 years ago, health care coverage was part of the deal. Now, the co. has secretly changed the benefit. Retirees has fiercely fought back; brought it to court. The case has been on going for over 3 yrs. Its likely the award will be in the retirees favour.
