Evidence like photos, conrrespondence letters are very important. There are several types of visa like fiance or spouse and regulations of each visa are significantly different. Fiance, you don't need to be married before you apply but as soon as the visa is granted, you have to get married within 90 days. For spouse visa, you have to get married before you apply. If you apply at the embassy in Thailand, you might have to wait for one year before you are granted the visa. Might be easier if you could come to Australia and apply for a spouse visa overhere but then the bad point is you have to remain living in Australia for 2 years. You might be able to leave the country if the leaving is for a short time like 2 weeks or 1 month, i'm not sure about this point. Recommend that you ring the ambassy and ask them about the details of these 2 types of the visa.
