It is impossible ka...in order to get work permit ...either you have a company sponsor you or you are student and have OPT or CPT. Not just paying $600 and you get a work permit. If that can happend, I'm sure all illegal immigrants will do so ka.
The job in the hotel is not a special occupation list by department of labor that the company need to hire foreigner to work and it doesn't consider skill worker. Unlike other professional job such as engineer, MD, nurse etc. or skill worker such as Chef that specialize in Foreign food that they couldn't find American to work in the position.
I agree with K. BMW, it soud fishy...they probably a fake Work permit card and your friends are more likely to get arrested if he/she use it.
