If there were only two choices, I would choose neither of them. I prefer to be single.
In my opinion, these two types of men, in general, have the potential to be self-absorbed and judgemental. I'd rather be married to an ordinary man whom I can talk to comfortably and not being judged by either his educational level or wealth.
As long as he has a broader sense of the world around him and can give me different perspectives on life, a man with a bachelor's degree is fine with me.
However, I have a friend who was also a former fellow Ph.D. student. He is very down-to-earth and really nice. Our friendship was purely platonic. Had it been chemistry between us, though, I would have considered marrying him, not because of his Ph.D., but because of his unique personality.
P.S. I never consider a Ph.D. as a proof of intelligence. To me, it's more about perseverance, determination, and resourcefulness. If given an opportunity, most graduates can continue and finish their Ph.D. if they possess these qualities.
