Most engineers have high quantitative skills. Thus, they are successful in many technical skills which may require complex calculations and logical thinking/management.
In addition, with their highly proficient in applied mathematics, they can apply this to many areas, including management, social sciences, economics, and biological sciences.
Anyway, some of them may heavily lack of interpersonal skills and lower concerns in importance of the environment.
One time, when I had a meeting with my former president, he mentioned about guys from engineering that they should not lead in something, because they were going to cut down every trees on their sight just to achieve their written goal. :)
As far as I have dealt with them (engineers from CU), I'm pretty impressed with their ingenuity, versatility, and aggressiveness towards the quality of their works.
