Important Change - Visit Visa validity
The United Kingdom is introducing biometrics capture into the visa application process to improve the security of the visa application and to protect visa holders identities. This will be staggered globally, at this present time it is envisaged that it will be introduced in Thailand during summer 2007.
In order to achieve the full benefits of biometrics capture as early as possible, we now need to limit the issue of long term, non-biometrics visas. This will, in practice, mean that we will stop the issue of 10-year visit visas. 5-year visit visas will only be issued to those individuals whose PRECEEDING visa was of 5-year duration, and which has only expired within the last 3 months.
We will continue to issue 6-month visit visas and, to those who qualify, 2-year visit visas.
There will be a requirement for those issued long-term visit visas on or after the 25th August 2006, to enrol their biometrics with the Embassy. Details on this procedure will be announced next year.
