I hear you. In my first year of the Ph.D. coursework, I almost got kick out of the program because my English was bad and I took some courses related to Western Philosophy. In the first year, I went to Ramkamheang U webside and download the texts that Thai professors translate to teach ungrad students in Western Philosophy class. It did healp a lot when I compared with the text assigned in my class. Then after the first year, you should try to find your strenghts, e.g., quantitative methods or other technical things that can make you become unique than native speakers. I don't know what disciplines you are in. To me, I am in public administration, my colleagues are good in theory and philosophy stuff, I departed that by trying to be strong in quantitative methods and research. It worked quite well. Believe me second year would be better and if you aim to be a professor in America, that is even tougher because it will not be only homeworks that you will have to deal with... Good luck and keep doing it. Next time, when you have to do group projecs, prepare a point to offer your teammates so that you can have more roles. Same thing as group project, in class discussion requires you to prepare one topic, at least, to share with the class. Try to speak first, so that you can control the direction of the discussion. If you do not open the discussion, you will not be able to join them effectively later, becuase the topic is controlled by others; your English is not powerful enough, and you still have burden to speak!
