The process to be a doctor here in USA is a very long. You don't need to study pre-med ka. You can study any field as undergraduate but you need to finish all required science courses. Many doctors that I know have bachelor in history, English Lit, chemistry etc. Then he have to apply for Med school. He will need really good MCAT, GPA, recommendation, and essay. If the med school interested in his application then he will go through interview process. After graduate med school, you cannot work right away. He needs to take USMLE which is a license exam and go through the matching process for residency. It can take him 4-7 years in intern and residency training...depends on their specialty (surgery, OB, pediatric etc.) During residency, he will get pay ka but very low pay. After the residency, then he can work as an attending in the hospital ka. (Or many get job offer to work in the doctor's group) K.gsd_trd is right ka...it's very expensive. My verygood friend have about 300K of student loan for his school and med school ka.
