University of Tokyo is one of the world elite universities.
This person was graduated from Todai with thesis distinction from his undergraduate level. This accomplishment in his youth already suggest us something.
Mentioning about Todai, I recently submitted a grant proposal. Well, I am not that hopeful that I will be awarded. Anyway, I feel so good that, during the development of the proposal, I could convince a Todai professor to be one of our colleagues.
Although he's now 60ish years old, but he has 540 international papers (in English) under his belt. In addition, in the last ten years, , according to ISI Web of Science, in terms of the number of citations in the field, he is currently number one.
When compared to these people, I feel like I am an atomic-sized dust in the universe.
Well, mathematics is really important for all fields in sciences, physical, biological, chemical and social alike. If you want to have a major breakthrough in any of these fields, applying good mathematics into such works is always a good advantage.
More important than mathematics itself?
Imagination, creativity thinking and generation of logical ideas relevant to critical issues in your respective field krub.
Not everyone is a genius, but everyone can be someone important as well.... :)
