It might be too late for K.Curious to come back and read this post naka. However, I still want t express my opinion toward this topic.
I mainly agree with K. CaliGirl since she raised a lot of good points. If housewife get paid, her yearly income will be at the same level with a lot of executives, lawyers or some types of doctors.
I used to work full time since I graduate from graduate school here in USA. A lot of my friends who married and graduate from grad school in USA, all have a full time job. I means a really good full time job that make close to 6 figures or even 6 figures.
I quilt my job because we had to move to different city. We knew that this will be an one year assignment for him. He,my hubby, offered me a full time housewife job for a year. I was very skeptical to take a job since I had a high ego and a lot of pride in me. I feel like I waste my education. We finally came up with the decision that I will work part time and only for the job that I truly enjoy.
It has been six months since we moved. I have to admit I love being housewife. I feel happier and have more time to take care of him and myself.
Ego and pride still exist but it has changed the attitude. Like my husband always says, he will never ask me to do what I do not want to do but his goal is to make me happy. If staying at home, make me happy, he is willing to pay a big buck for it.
Sorry for the long comments, all I'm trying to say is you have no right to look down on people and you should open your mind to the reality.
