1. McGill U. and U ofM are not so far. u can take metro around 10 - 15 mins.
2. actually, the joint program is only the name. mostly u will take classes in U of montreal (if u applied directly from U of M).
3. for TA/RA in U of M, i have no idea.
4. yes. it is quite cold here, especially in Jan and Feb. it is getting cold from Dec to Mar. Now it is very hot (28 degree). you can handle it, i guess.
now FYI
Faculty of Managment (Operation research area) at McGill U, Phds will get scholarships+TA+RA around CAD 2000 no tax for 4 years plus all speak in english.
I talked to some one there, they said that there r not so many asian students applying here. they want some students from asia. I mean from south east asia. of course, there are a lot students from china, and middle east.
So, if you are interested, u can send your cv to them. As far as i know, there is one prof. (in this field at McGill) wants PhD students from Asian. His name is Prof. Saibal Ray. u can send email to him directly. Just check his email from McGill university/faculty of management.
however, this information is for everyone reading this thread and interested to study phd in mcgill. it is a very good chance.
