Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, third in line to the throne of Thailand, toured Russell Sage College on Friday. Her campus visit was part vacation, part work and part reunion. Sirindhorn was a guest of college President Susan Scrimshaw. The women formed a friendship 20 years ago in Thailand, when Scrimshaw's father, Nevin, a renowned nutritionist, worked with Thailand's King Rama IX. His 54-year-old daughter, who is fluent in four languages, is a history professor and musician. She works closely with the king and is known in their country as the "princess of technology" for her interest in putting Thailand at the cutting edge of science. On Friday morning she walked around campus wearing a simple pattern shirt. A digital camera dangled from a lanyard around her neck.
