i have both accounts. i signed up because the stuff that i was interested in (news, movies, etc.) were using them. it was like, "if you want to [do something], become a fan or follow us at ..." there was no other way for me to participate. i'm still new to twitter. among my friends on f/b, i'd say we're really not that active in terms of telling others what we're doing at the moment. i think one of the reasons twitter's become popular is that lots of people are addicted to texting (which i don't get either). it used to be that you made a phone call when necessary. then you made (lots of) unnecessary phone calls. then you texted because you couldn't talk, because you were in a meeting or something. now you text whenever you feel like.
