I lived there for 1 month. Just moved out to other state.
I hardly know any Thai there ka. Most of the time I worked and went out with my collegue.
In my opinion, Myrtle beach is like Rayong !! It's a seaside beach but the beach is not as beautiful as southern part of Thailand. It's kind of quiet this year bcos of the recession. The peak season for visitor is in Auguest. Now, it's getting a little cooller already. (My friend just told me) So I don't think it's a good idea if you wanna go there for beaches right now. Better to California or Florida.
Also, the city itself is well known for beig a retirement place. You can expect it to be quiet. Most tourist are like family with kids. Not much young, single. The city is not so vibrant at all.
About transportation, you need to rent a car ja. It's hard to get around with public transport.
A lot of hotels to chose. I suggest at beach side or Market common area.
Planty of resturants ja. Not to worry about food. But getting from A to B is a big problem. So rent a car.
Thai food... I've been to Bangkok house. It's quite good. Tell them to make it spicy for you. The owner and waiteress there areThai.
