I don't know what field you are in, but I as a Ph.D drop-out, I can tell you that:
1. Not all Ph.D grads ended up teaching. In my field, it's about 50/50. 2. If you are not passionate about your field, don't waste your time. It's very difficult, time consuming and stressful. My program was ranked top 15 in the US at the time (I don't know where it is right now). I got an RA position, so, I didn't have to pay my way. However, I was miserable. I quit after 4.5 year (yup, I was close) and it was the best decision in my life.
Think hard na ka. Yes, having a Ph.D might open some doors for you, but if they are doors that you know you do not care to enter, why bother?
