Arriving from outside the EU If your journey began in a country outside the European Union (your hold luggage will have a white tag), use the red point if you have goods to declare or the green exit if you don't.
Before 15 June 2007, there is no legal requirement to declare the cash that you are carrying when you enter or leave the UK, whatever the amount or currency.
However, as from that date if you are arriving directly from, or are travelling directly to, a country outside the European Union (EU)1, and are carrying 10,000 euros or more or the equivalent amount in another currency, you must complete a cash declaration form. These will be available at the port or airport of your entry to, or departure from, the UK. Please read the form carefully before filling it in. You will be liable to financial penalties if you fail to comply with the obligation to declare or provide incomplete or incorrect information.
Cash not only means currency notes and coins but also bankers drafts and cheques of any kind(including travellers cheques).
How to declare cash You must declare cash on duplicate form C9011, and post the completed top copy - Copy 1 - in the drop-box at the port or airport.
You can obtain and complete this form at the port or airport, or you can download and print it by following the link below.
Customs officers from the UK Border Agency (UKBA) may ask to see evidence that you have declared the cash. Its therefore important to keep a copy of the completed form. If you get the form at the port or airport, it automatically makes a carbon copy as you complete it. This is Copy 2. If you download and print the form, you will need to make a photocopy of Copy 1. (You do not need to complete Copy 2 of the printed form.)
You may be fined if you fail to declare the money or if you give incomplete or false information.
