Simple.
Remember: Use the same passport to go in and out of a country.
Thailand: Always use Thai passport to go in and out.
To go to the UK (or any countries in Europe) from Thailand: assuming you use Thai passport when you entered the kingdom;
- at Thai airport check in: use Thai passport during check in and show the US passport as a VISA
- at Thai immigration: ONLY use Thai passport to show.
- at destination: UK or other countries immigration: use the passport that you can use to gain free entry (without visa), in your case US passport.
