#1 Absolutely, 60% - 70% of interns are potentially hired as full-time employees later (for I-banks). That's why it is SO HARD to get a good internship, esp. for GS, Morgan Stanley, BNP, UBS, CS, Citi, etc. Here are some tips based on my experience ka.
First, you need to know what kind of job function you want to pursue. For MBA, they should be finance, management, and management. And then search for companies which they are looking interns regarding on your choice of interest.
Tip#1 Generally, you do not have to choose for the field of interest when applying to IB's associate program.
Tip#2 search in efinancecareers.com, jobsdb.com or the campus recruitment on your university website
Second, polish your resume. The most important thing is your skill set. If you do not have much working experience or related to the position you apply, please state clearly what you can do i.e. computer programming, financial background, language, modeling skill, etc. If you have related working experience to the field, please clarify your role and responsibility in details.
Tip#3 categorize your skill sets such as finance, analytical/problem solving, computer programming, language, certificates (i.e. CFA, CPA)
Tip#4 Make sure that your cover letter is professionally well-written. Give an example about your success (i.e. projects) in the past. Or, if you write the research paper related to your position, briefly state that in your CV.
Third, begin your application - start to send your resume/CV to the recruiters and then check your e-mail daily. If you pass to next round, HR will invite you for a phone interview/face-to-face.
Hope this will be helpful for those who interested ka.
