Think of Provence and you think lavender. Vast fields of delicate mauve and bright purple flowers under an azure blue sky in the most picturesque countryside you can imagine - whether it's the tranquil Plateau de Sault nestling below the slopes of Mont Ventoux high in the Vaucluse hills or the stunning Plateau de Valensole ringed by views of the distant southern Alps. The sights and the scents are stunning and if you are a photographer or painter the vistas are a dream come true.
We offer a choice of short self drive holidays visiting the lavender growing areas when the flowers are at their peak from late June to mid July. Following the back roads and hidden footpaths of these areas you will be able to see the lavender fields at their very best.
We offer a choice of accommodation options for this holiday - either 3* hotel or chambre d'hote/bed and breakfast accommodation. Both tours follow a similar route giving you the chance to explore the two main areas of lavender cultivation in southern Provence - it's just your choice of where you stay that determines the holiday price.
We make all the bookings and pre-pay for all your hotel accommodation and provide you with a Route Book which includes all the detail you need for your holiday - your hotel and meal arrangements, a detailed day by day route planner with road directions, suggestions for excursions and visits with details of opening and closing times, and of course maps of the local area.
Lavender blooms from late June to August and is harvested from mid July to late August so if you want to be sure to catch the lavender in bloom you should plan your visit from mid June to mid July.
