I apologise, you are absolutely correct Giuseppe about the starting date. I was only looking at the length of absence and totally ignored the qualifying starting date.
Anyway, I would never tell or ask anyone to apply exactly dead on the very date after having been there for three years. Back then I didn't bother to apply for mine until almost 10 years after I had the ILR, and at that time the fee was only £120. Imagine, I thought that was very expensive, plus the hefty fees of £5.00 for the solicitor to perform the Oath of Allegiance ceremony at his office and to put down his signature on the form for the Home Office.
The whole Naturalisation process from the day of sending in the application to the day of receiving the certificate took almost 2 years.
