ความคิดเห็นที่ 1 ขอสรุปภาษาไทยคร่าวๆตรงนี้ด้วยนะครับ ย่อหน้าแรก เศรษฐศาสตร์มีความสำคัญมาก เพราะเกี่ยวข้องกับทั้งชีวิต ผมรู้สึกสนใจตั้งแต่การเกิดวิกฤติเศรษฐกิจ ผมอยากจะหาคำตอบทั้งหมดของเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นนั้นด้วยตัวผมเอง จึงอยากจะศึกษาต่อไปจนถึงระดับPh.D ย่อหน้าสอง สาเหตุหนึ่งที่เกิดวิกฤตนั้นคงเป็นเพราะการขาดแคลนนักเศรษฐศาสตร์และการเพิกเฉยต่อการทำวิจัย แต่ต่อไปในอนาคต ด้วยบทเรียนของเราจะทำให้คนหันมาใส่ใจกับนักวิชาการและการทำวิจัยมากขึ้น การศึกษา MA in Econ เป็นจุดเริ่มของความสำเร็จของผม เพราะเป้าหมายสูงสุดคือ การได้เป็นนักวิชาการทางเศรษฐศาสตร์ที่ทำงานในมหาวิทยาลัยโดยปราศจากการควบคุมและครอบงำ เพื่อจะได้ทำงานได้อย่างเต็มที่ ตรงไปตรงมา และ ถ่ายทอดความรู้ให้แก่นักเรียน ย่อหน้าสาม ตอนเรียนป.ตรี GPAไม่ดีนัก แต่ก็ไม่สามารถนำมาวัดกับการประสบความสำเร็จที่สาขาเศรษฐศาสตร์ที่CCNYได้ เพราะ ความสนใจในด้านเศษฐศาสตร์มีมากกว่าทางด้านการเมืองมากนัก และความสนใจใฝ่รู้นี้จะเป็นแรงผลักดันให้ผมทำสิ่งที่ดีที่สุดในการศึกษาได้ นอกจากนี้ ผมยังได้รับการคิดในแบบเศรษฐศาสตร์มาจากคุณพ่อ ซึ่งเราใช้เวลาร่วมกันหลังอาหารพูดถึงนโยบายด้านเศรษฐกิจต่างๆของรัฐบาล และรายงานชิ้นหนึ่งของผมก็ได้พิสูจน์ผลของมันแล้ว ผมเลือกนโยบายดอกเบี้ยเพื่อศึกษาผลกระทบในระยะยาวและได้เกรดA ผมเชื่อว่า ความสนใจอย่างมากในวิชาเศรษฐศาสตร์นี้ จะทำให้ผมประสบความสำเร็จได้อย่างแน่นอน ย่อหน้าสี่ หลังจากจบแล้ว ผมก็ทำงานในตำแหน่งเจ้าหน้าที่ฝึกอบรมและได้นำหลักพื้นฐานของเศรษฐศาสตร์มาประยุกต์ใช้ เพื่อแก้ปัญหาการไม่เข้าฝึกอบรมของพนักงาน แต่เดิมบริษัทได้กำหนดคอร์สฝึกอบรมตามความเห็นของกรรมการบริษัท แต่พนักงานไม่เข้าร่วมเพราะเห็นว่าไม่ตรงกับความต้องการของตนและน่าเบื่อ ผมจึงแก้ไขปัญหาโดยขอความร่วมมือในการกำหนดคอร์สร่วมกัน ซึ่งทำให้พนักงานเกิดความต้องการเข้าคอร์สฝึกอบรมด้วยเอง ทำให้มีคนเข้าอบรมมากๆขึ้นเรื่อยๆ ย่อหน้าห้า ผมต้องการเข้าเรียนที่CCNYด้วยเหตุผลหลายประการ หนึ่ง เพราะelective courseมีมากมายที่ผมสนใจ เช่น ............. ผมต้องการรู้และเข้าใจสิ่งเหล่านี้เพราะมันสามารถเป็นประโยชน์ได้อย่างมากเมื่อนำมาใช้ในประเทศไทย สอง CCNY มีสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกที่ช่วยในการเรียนของนักเรียน เช่น ห้องสมุดที่กว้างใหญ่และมีข้อมูลมากมาย และstudent centers and services ที่ดี เป็นที่น่าพอใจ อันเป็นปัจจัยสำคัญของการใช้ชีวิตในมหาวิทยาลัย ผมมั่นใจว่า The M.A. in Economics program at CCNY เป็นที่ที่เหมาะสมที่สุดสำหรับผม และความรู้กับประสบการณ์ที่จะได้จากที่นี่เป็นสิ่งที่จะช่วยให้ผมประสบความสำเร็จได้ในอนาคต ขอบคุณที่อ่านและรอจะเข้าเรียน(เด้อ) มีอะไรตรงไหนควรเปลี่ยน หรือยังไม่ชัดเจนปะครับ ตรงย่อหน้า 4==>5 เคยมีคนบอกว่ามันกระโดดอ่ะครับ แต่ผมยังคิดไม่ออกเลยว่าจะให้ไม่กระโดดได้ยังไง ถ้ายังไงก็ช่วยแนะนำหน่อยนะครับ ล.ป.(ลืมไป) ประโยคสุดท้าย ดีรึยังอะครับ หรือว่าต้องลงท้ายให้สวยหรูกว่านี้ ขอบคุณคร้าบ จากคุณ : ชนชั้นกลาง - [ 19 เม.ย. 47 16:52:43 ]

ความคิดเห็นที่ 2 เอ่อ..คือว่า เราเรียนสายวิทย์อ่ะ แต่ไหนๆ อ่านแล้วก็ขออนุญาตวิจารณ์นะคะ คงไม่ว่าอะไรนะคะ เพราะอย่างน้อย Statement ของคุณก่อนจะถึง Department และ Professors ก็ต้องผ่าน Admissions Office ก่อน ความเห็นเราอาจช่วยบอกอะไรได้บ้างในส่วนของคนธรรมดาที่อยู่นอกสายเศรษฐศาสตร์ว่าอ่านแล้วรู้สึกยังไง คือถ้าเราเป็น Admin. Officer อ่านแล้ว เราจะรู้สึกว่า บทความนี้ยังไม่ต่างหรือโดดเด่นจากบทความของนักเรียนคนอื่นที่ส่งไป ซึ่งมันควรจะมีจุดเด่นกว่านี้โดยเฉพาะถ้าคุณใช้สมัครปเอก ทั้งนี้ก็เพื่อให้มั่นใจว่านอกจากหลักฐานการสมัครอื่นๆ แล้ว บทความนี้จะช่วยให้คุณสามารถเบียดไหล่เขาหรือชิงดำให้มหาลัยรับเข้าให้ได้ Para 2 คุณกำลังบอกว่านักวิชาการเศรษฐศาสตร์ที่ไม่ได้สังกัดมหาลัยถูกครอบงำ ซึ่งก็อาจจริงค่ะ แต่เรา บทความควรมีเป็นกลางไม่ควรจะเบรมบุคลากรในสายอาชีพเดียวกัน ควรเขียนในมุมมองอื่นที่กว้างกว่า เช่น ถ้าจะวิเคราะห์ปัญหาจากสภาวะการณ์เศรษฐกิจ อาจยกตัวอย่างเป็นสินค้า เงื่อนไขทางการค้า-ปัจจัยการผลิต เพื่อให้มันดูเป็นรูปธรรมมากขึ้น หรือหัวข้องานหลักๆที่คุณสนใจจะทำในระยะยาวหลังจากเรียนจบเอกแล้ว น่าจะพูดถึงอิทธิพลจากภายนอกประเทศที่มีต่อการตกต่ำทางเศรษฐกิจในประเทศ หรือประเด็นใดก็ได้ที่จะบอกโดยนัยได้ว่า ทำไมคุณเลือกถึงเลือกเรียนต่างในประเทศ (para นี้ถ้าไม่มีจุดเด่นอะไร อาจย้ายไปรวมกับ Para 1 และ 4) Para 3.1 ต้องเลือกจะใช้เนื้อที่บทความให้คุ้มค่า ไม่ต้องบอกเขาว่า GPA ไม่ดีหรอก นอกเสียจากว่าคุณจะอธิบายชีวิตในมหาลัยกิจกรรมอื่นๆ ที่เป็นจุดเด่นมาประกอบ มันอาจดูลงตัวขึ้น แต่ถ้าเป็นเรา เราจะไม่พูดถึง GPA (ยังไงเขาก็ดู Transcript อยู่แล้ว) โดยเชื่อมแค่วิชาที่ได้เอว่าเราสนใจเป็นพิเศษแล้วมันส่งผลต่อ ความสามารถของเราในการวิเคราะห์ปัญหา แล้วเราอยากมีส่วนร่วมในการแก้ไขปัญหานั้นด้วยวิชาที่กำลังจะไปเรียนได้อย่างไร หรือ ยกจุดเด่นด้านอื่นๆ มาเพื่อชูประสบการณ์ทำงานให้เยอะๆ Para 3.2 ถ้าจะเขียนถึงการถกปัญหากับคุณพ่อ คุณต้องบอกก่อนว่าท่านเกี่ยวข้องกับเศรษฐศาสตร์ในด้านไหน บอกอิทธิพลอื่นที่คุณพ่อคุณมีต่อชีวิต-ความคิดคุณ แต่ถ้าเป็นเราเราจะปรับเป็นติดตามสถานการณ์ทุกวันผ่านสื่อที่น่าสนใจต่างๆ เพื่อที่จะให้เนื้อหาไปในโทนเดียวกันคือ ประสบการณ์ทำงานและความสามารถในการวิเคราะห์เหตุการณ์ทางเศรษฐกิจ Para 4 คุณทำงานแล้วนำความรู้ทางเศรษฐศาสตร์มาประยุกต์ใช้ โดยยกตัวอย่าง การแก้ปัญหาการไม่เข้าฝึกอบรมของพนักงาน แต่เราว่ามันยังไม่ชัดเจนพอ โดยเฉพาะถ้าปัญหานั้นถูกแก้ไขเพราะพนักงานให้ความร่วมมือในการกำหนดคอร์ส มันยังไม่ได้บอกเลยว่า...คุณเอาความรู้ด้านเศรษฐศาสตร์จากการเรียนมาใช้ให้เป็นประโยชน์ต่อการทำงานได้อย่างไร? ควรบอกแบคกราวน์บริษัทมากกว่านี้ หรืออธิบายเพื่มเติมว่างานที่คุณทำนั้นมีความสำคัญ ส่งผลดีต่อการรายได้หรือความสำเร็จของบริษัทอย่างไร ที่เป็นอยู่มันยับจบแค่ความสำเร็จจากการอบรมพนักงาน Para 5 ห้องสมุดที่กว้างใหญ่ และ student centers and services มันเป็นข้อดีที่มหาลัยใหญ่ๆ ทั่วไปมีค่ะ ทำไม CCNY ต้องเน้นจุดแข็งทางวิชาการว่าในด้านEcon เขาเด่นกว่าที่อื่นตรงไหน แล้วระบุหัวข้องานวิจัยคร่าวๆ ที่สนใจเป็นพิเศษไปด้วย ลองเอาคียเวิร์ดของงานวิจัยที่สนใจไปค้นต่อ หรืออ่านเพิ่มเติมจากงานวิจัยของอาจารย์ในคณะเขาแล้วเอาว่าเขียนให้สอดคล้อง ในภาพกว้างๆ แล้วเพิ่มเติมให้เป็นจุดเด่นด้วยการเชื่อมโยงกับเหตุการณ์ภายใน/ภายนอกประเทศ และมุมมองทางเศรษฐศาสตร์ของคุณดู ควรให้ความคิดลงตัวมากๆ ก่อนที่จะปรับแก้ครั้งหน้า ไม่งั้นคุณต้องปรับแก้หลายรอบไปๆมาๆระหว่างภาษาอังกฤษกับไทย ส่วนบทความข้างล่างนี้น่าสนใจดีค่ะ พอช่วยไกด์แนวการเขียนได้ http://www.butler.edu/liberal_arts_works/personal_statement.pdf ด้วยความปรารถนาดี อย่าโกรธที่วิจารณ์น้า.... จากคุณ : rb :O - [ 19 เม.ย. 47 18:37:29 A:203.121.178.121 X: ]

In fact, I think you should arrange and manage your thoughts into a Thai context first and translate it back to English. By doing so, you will have a solid outline in which you can grab while writing in English. After reading both of your Thai and English versions, I have several questions and comments regarding your writing. If I were you, I would focus my statement of purpose on these issues. 1. You said you must continue your study to PhD. But, you only apply to a Master degree. What is the rationale behind this? What is a level of your intended study? 2. Why a Phenomena in Thailand during 1997 is so important that it makes you go for PhD in Economics? How PhD in Economics helps you understand the Phenomena? I do not see how the crisis and insufficient numbers of economist are relevant issues. If you think so, please elaborate more? 3. I suggested that you search some academic work in Economics and related fields that already addressed the phenomena in Thailand. I have read several of them in business and sociology. If you can mention such academic work and their research gaps, your objective of doing PhD to understand the phenomena will be even more convincing. Readers will be more impressive with your academic knowledge as well. 4. Telling you the truth, I think you should mention all the reasons (i.e., personal interest, experience, future objectives, programs) before concluding that these important reasons are all leading you to pursue the PhD degree. For example, if i were you I would put your personal interest, academic and work backgrounds, some interesting phenomena of crisis, and a specific program in which you want to pursue respectively before deliver the big conclusion. This is just my suggestions. Writing statement of objective is not an easy thing. It takes times and efforts. You need to be clear about all the arguments you provided. Starting from the devaluation of Thai Baht to the highest NPL records in the last 20 year, my attention has been since drawn to the analysis of how could these events start and proceed. I have carefully analyzed these events of the way they happen and the way not to let them happened. After several analyses, it seemed to me that they were not simple questions to be answered which I could not be accessible by newspapers or magazines. However, since there is a challenge waiting for me to answer, pursuing myslef into researches in Economics would be one of all best routes to verify those problems. Although Ph.D in economics is likely to be more on paper works, however, its consequence has practically impacts on the society. From my point of view, the reason of crisis in 1997 was the shortage of economic specialists and the economic expertise of researchers. Thailand is currently showing a good sign since people become more aware of what was happened in the past. After the completion of Master of Art, my enthusiasm has asked me to deepen my knowledge into specific area in Economics. I hope Ph.D in economic would employ me an academic job at Thai universities. I prefer to work at the university since my designing researches are more dependent. Although I have not got a remarkable GPA, however, I believe this did not reflect my potential to pursue my graduate level at City College of New York.
