I got one example that may be able to use as a case study or whatever.
One day, when I was working in a lab with one of my female students. Then she asked me that "Do you know what WAS my dad's profession?"
The student came from the hotspot area of prostitution notoriety somewhere in the northern part of Thailand.....
Let's go back to her question.... which, of course, I had no idea what was her dad's former profession..... and I was ?????????? and what?????
So she kindly replied that her dad used to work as a person looking for young women in the neiborhood and send her to be a hooker maybe in Bangkok or somewhere else....
In the area, young women would like to repay their parents to a better social status.... in lay term, financial richness..... For boys, they would like to become to a career my father's student used to do.... For the elderly and the parents, having a bigger house furnished with satellite dish, and so on is "a better living status".
In general, prostitution has become a norm for their entire community.
And why my dear student has been out of this circle of vicious if you will.....? Why her father has changed his mind from that career to "a mediocre one for his community"?
The fact is prostitution is really existing in Thai society in every level......... In one location, the cause might be differed from place to place, from situation to situation and person to person.....
Prostitution, for me, is just an outcome of misleading and non-judicious capitalism and greed.... I don't blame those boys and girls who have become ones....
And I don't think that they have made a bad name to our country, we all did!!!
