Foreign Nationals with Residence Permit for the UK holding a regular passport All foreign nationals not exempt from obtaining a visa under above mentioned parapgraphs do not require a visa to travel to Switzerland if they hold a regular passport with a UK residence permit or a UK temporary residence permit, originally issued for more than 6 months and 1 day. At the time of entry into Switzerland this permit and the expiry date of the passport must be valid beyond the date of departure from Switzerland.
Description of residence permits for the UK:
Label: Certificate of entitlement to the right of abode Stamp or label with the statement: indefinite period / given indefinite Stamp with the statement: There is at present no time limit
Description of temporary residence permits for the UK: A temporary residence permit issued by the Home Office or Immigration Officer can be a work permit, student permit or marriage permit. Stamps start with the statement:
-leave to enter.., given leave to enter.., leave to remain.. -the holder has leave to enter/remain
-a right of residence in the United Kingdom as family member of an EEA national or a Swiss national.
Labels:
Entry Clearance; brownish label; must be issued with multiple entries! Residence Permit; new European Union style vignette with various statements: Limited leave to remain/ enter etc. (The rule of 6 months and 1 day does not apply for Entry Clearance and Residence Permit visas)
