It was my friend who has got a panic attack after having a cough-relief syrub. Not long after she phoned me that she couldn't breathe properly and her body shaked all the time, we called an ambulance and took her to the nearest hospital. And guess what... we sat in the casualty in that hospital for about one hour without any doctor seeing us... only the nurse come to ask for our details. After one hour, a nurse measure her blood pressure, took blood samples and just told us we can go home as soon as she felt better. Seems like they want to get rid of us asap nae. So I think, if a person is in the final stage, he/she would have die in that casualty. My friend never feel better in any way cause nobody told her what to do to relieve that panic attack and worse, a nurse who is in charge of that room was so rude to us (because we are foreigner??). We even were warned not to use the mobile phone in the room. (I just wanted to call my friend's auntie for god sake) Brilliant NHS service !!
Luckily, my friend has an auntie here who can take care of her. Sadly, if it was me or other students without any relatives here, what would that be?... dying in the hall of residence natually with somebody finding out one week afterward? Or even you could get to the hospital in time, with the NHS brilliant service like this, how long would it take to get a right treatment?
This kratu is not because angryness and not to discourage you all na..just wanna remind you...cause most of us are living alone and we are far away from our family.
In the emergency, make sure you have somebody, who you're gonna contact nearest to your place (friends, any reception staffs?), make sure your registration with the GP is active, have the ambulance number in your mobile, and most importantly, be prepared and take care of yourself as best as you can na (esp in the coming cold weather).
