Mateschitz still owns 49 per cent of the Red Bull company, with the original Thai owners of the formulation holding the remaining 51 per cent. The mystique surrounding the drink's powers are part of its success. For example, Red Bull has been rumoured to contain a mystery stimulant, namely testosterone derived from bull's semen. This is nonsense, but it's all good publicity.

Krating Daeng™ (กระทิงแดง) "The Original"
The original Thai formula of Krating Daeng™ ("Red Bull" in Thai language) has been energizing people for generations. It was developed by T.C. Pharmaceutical Industries Co. Ltd. in Bangkok Thailand where it is still manufactured, and has been recently license to a well-known beverage.
Krating Daeng™ is a great tasting, potent refreshment that combines Vitamin B and two pharmaceutical grade metabolic activators; the natural amino-acid Taurine (C2H7NO3S) and stimulating Caffeine (C8H10N4O2) and should be consumed responsibly.

Sidenote You can get the 'original' Red Bull in Asian grocery stores. Manufactured in Thailand, you can identify the gold can by the two red bulls on the label. It's a lot sweeter and thicker than its American counterpart, lacks the fizzy carbonation, but is also only 70 cents a can.

The drink was created by Dietrich Mateschitz. He ADAPTED it from the Thai beverage Krating Daeng (กระทิงแดง) in 1984 and approached the local firm TC Pharmaceuticals to manufacture it.

Turning to the doyenne of the energy drink market, Red Bull, it would appear that the brand has given an interesting twist in the Philippines. The origins of Red Bull lie in Asia where it was introduced in Thailand in the late 1970s. It is now available throughout most of Asia where it is made by TC Pharmaceuticals.

12 Red Bull (Thailand) Red Bull was initially developed in Thailand, and the rights were bought to market it world-wide excluding Thailand, which continued producing it's own brand. Red Bull in Thailand has a different formulae and marketing plan than the non-Thailand version.
Googling to:

and Thai keyword search "กระทิงแดง"
Try again more patiently. The truth is out there.
