From my experience, it depends ka. When I lived in the small city, I met many real badddd Thai people and really cool Thai roommate and friends. I got one Taiwanese close friend and also had bad Taiwanese friend (I never considered any bad person to be my friend)
I got a psycho Korean roommate who cheat my deposit and don't even lose any penny, real cheapass Korean girl!!! Then I met some selffish Thai roommates. after I moved out I met some great Thai coworkers. Also, now I hang out with American and Japanese friends who are so nice. Life is always up and down in the US!!
So, I think nationality doesn't matter ka. It depends on how lucky you are and how much you expect things around you. You have to make your life flexible, don't expect things, don't ask for help, be self confident, strong and be nice to people, otherwise, you can't live in this country.
I went through a lot of deeply bad situations and also a lot of great memories. I learn that living in here is A.F.U., but I love it.
When I got a problem with Thai friends, I always think about my goal to be in the US ka, I came here to study to gain as much as knowledge and I don't come here to find more friends cuz I have enough good friends in Thailand ka.
So, ask yourself na ka what is your major goal to be in the US, to find a lot of Thai good friends or to study and learn great experience? Then when you have passion in making your life happy, good friends will come to you unexpectedly ka.
