Nowadays, the gap between countryside and cities has inceased in many countries. Is it the same in your country? What can governments do to reverse this?
At the present days, the difference between countryside and cities has been increased all around the world, including my country, Thailand.
For my country, Thailand, there are a lot of gap between countryside and the city. As can be seen from the comparing between Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, and the other provinces that there are a number of big gaps in every story. For examples, in the business view, Bangkok is the center of the business. More than 50% of all companies in the country were situated in Bangkok, the less of them were separately stood in other big cities, such as Changmai, Songkla or Kolard. Also, as same as in education, over a half of well-known Universities were situated in Bangkok too. Not only business and education but also the transportation, Bangkok can be implied as 'the black hold', suck a number of cars in to it own and suck other kinds of transportation too, like airplane and ship. Every main-transportation route in the country has to pass through Bangkok.
Someone suggested that governments should do something to reduce such gap. In my opinion, there are 2 major issues that governments should do on.
First of all, business is the most major issue that governments should focus on. They should issue some law in order to stop the growing business in cities. Moreover, they ought to support investment in countryside. For example, providing special-low tax for business stood outside the city, or giving money to create own business. The good example is "One Tumbon One Product", Thai government gave 1 million Bath to every Tumbon to create one product of their own.
Secondly, transportation is very important too. In order to support business, the good transportation is required. It is impossible for any factories which have no routes to send their products. Although your factory or your business can create the best product of the kind, you cannot sell it because you do not have any routes to send to your clients. So It is a kinds of useless if government support only business but does not support transportation.
In conclusion, to reduce the gap, government should concentrate on spreading business and improving transport in countryside in order to reduce centerization in cities and to upgrade the standard of living in countryside. Governments should always remind that people are not living only in the cities but also in the countryside, and they need the standard of living as same as cities.
