I initially intended to avoid giving my comments for fear that I may use some strong/stern words which will not produce any constructive outcomes. Now, with the broadcast of The New Heroes on PBS last night, with a part about young Thai girls lured into prostitutions as posted in the website below, I decide to share my thoughts.

This program may help to broaden somebodys mind who always put blames on those service women. I admit I was infuriated by some narrow-minded comments. Simply judge at the end results without identifying the causes; why/what forces them to seek that way out.
A comment in particular ดิฉันไม่ขอพูดถึง นศ หรือสาวๆที่มีความรู้แล้วพยายามหาแฟนฝรั่งนะค่ะ เพราะนั้นเป็นสิทธิ์ของเค้า แล้วเค้ามีความรู้พอ(น่าจะ)เอาตัวเองรอดได้พอ, it implies to me of social/economy class division. College girls search for farangs husband is justifiable because they know better. For the uneducated ones are condemned (to do the same) because they know nothing. The fact is nobody knows regardless of level of education. When you deal with long distance relationships which rely solely on written words and/or voice, you are taking more chances. Many times, my colleagues asked me to introduce some good Thai women, I flatly refused to. This is simply because these men may seem decent in public, but they may be different behind close doors. Who knows?
I mentioned before that I got the in-my-face comments/insults about Thai women numerous times. In the past, were more about prostitutes. Now, are more about educated/career women who go to a great extent to seek farang males via any means: mostly internet. For the service women, I was able to reason with the causes (poverty and illiteracy) forcing them to that profession, but the latter one Ive not quite sure how.
From my observations, some farangs (at least my colleagues) these days are capable of distinguish educated women from service ones. Actually, I have the honour to know some ex-service women who are married to farangs and have a considerable good life. They completely transformed themselves to be very good house wives (they make me feel deficient as a wife). They make their husbands the envies among their colleagues. They gain respects from their husbands and me.
My point here is fortunes do not lend themselves equally to everybody. We must understand the causes that lead those women to such miserable life before we pass on our judgments or condemn them. For those women, who think they are unjustly insulted about comments concerning Thai women, there is no need to get fired up. To me, the best is calmly reason with them/educate them if you could; or simply ignore them if they are too ignorant. And most importantly, do what you can to exemplify yourself to show that there are some good Thai women too. I command respects (via this means) and Ive gained from my friends.
