A bank statement is a letter from the bank that you have accounts with states details about all your bank accounts that you have, and the balance of each account.
For example:
As of the certain date, Mr.xxx has the following accounts:
Saving account 100-2-xxxxxx-x balance 500,000 bht
Checking account 100-3-xxxxxx-x balacne 20,000 bht
Grand total 520,000 bht.
The embassy prefers you to present the bank statement since it is issued by the bank which is more reliable than your passbook.
