สังเกตว่าวิธีพูดจะมีหลายอย่าง (for god's sake, for pete's sake, for goodness sake, etc) เพราะเคยมีฝรั่งหลายคนบอกว่าไม่ชอบที่จะพูดคำว่า god ก็เลยเลี่ยงไปใช้คำอื่น คือไม่อยากใช้คำว่า god พร่ำเพรื่อ (จะด้วยเหตุผลใดก็แล้วแต่) ดังจะเห็นได้จากคำอุทานที่ติดปากฝรั่งมากที่สุดคือ oh my god! บ่อยครั้งคุณจะได้ยินฝรั่งพูดว่า oh my gosh แทน (ตรงนี้ก็คงพอจะเดาได้ว่าป็นการหลีกเลี่ยงที่จะใช้คำว่า god เหมือนกัน) .......gosh dang it!! อันนี้ก็เคยได้ยินครับแต่นานๆครั้ง (เป็น version ที่สุภาพของวลี "god damn it!")
เวลาที่ผมได้ยินคนไทยอุทานว่า oh my god! ผมจะรู้สึกขัดๆหูทุกครั้ง คือคริสเตียนก็ไม่ใช่ ฝรั่งก็ไม่เชิง แต่อุทานแต่ละที ออกฝรั่งจ๋าเลยอ่ะ คือแค่อยากจะรู้ว่าถ้าไม่อุทานว่า oh my god เนี่ยมันจะตายมั้ย แค่นั้นเอง
