Mine may sound somewhat tangential to your discussion, but I hope it might be of help to those who share my interest in tutoring.
ESL Reading/Writing Tutor

5. Attend class once a week; facilitate one-to-one tutoring (at least 4 hr/week, but could go up to 10 hr/week); submit students' progress to the instructor, when appropriate
6. Listen, listen, and listen to your students!
The position was only available to Applied Linguistics graduate students--but with the help of the instructor I was finally assigned to and with some interviews, they granted me (a senior undergrad) the opportunity. Graduate students may have received higher remuneration and other benefits.
