Go to the airline counter first, you need a slip confirming your connecting flight. Then, bring that slip to the immigration and ask for a transit visa. From the airport, you can take a train to Narita city. It takes about 10 min. it's very small, but has a temple and a few stores. I went to Tesco. Nothing to do much, but definitely more fun than the airport and food is cheaper and better. If you don't want to take a train, the airport has a small mall- a few gift shops, restaurants, electronics, etc. I think you could kill 2 hours here easily. You need the transit visa to reach this area. Have fun na ka.
