Depends on the location, how much you work (one shift or all day work), size of the restaurant and its location, also depends on the shift that you work (more tip on the busy shift)
Agree with K. TGIF...
If you've never work in the office please don't say "ทำร้านอาหารไทยดีกว่านั่งทำงานใน office" because it's not true. If you work in the office, you don't have work as hard and as much to earn the same amout of money. Typically, you work 9 to 5, about 40 hours a week. If you sick, you get pay for your day off. If you work holidays, you get pay time and a half. If you work OT, you get pay OT. You have holiday off, and health/dental benefit pay when you get sick. Some place also provide free health/dental benefit to your family. Some company have a great retirement plan which cover all your health benefit when you retire.
Even though, it may seem that you get pay less when you work in the office becuase you have to pay lots of taxes every paycheck. But you also get benefit from government when you are unemploy or become disability. Medicare or Medical will pay for you when you are sick or after retirement in case you don't have insurance. About the tax, you get tax refund back every year, more or less depends on how good is your accoutant.
Like K. TGIF said all this benefit, you won't get from work at restaurant. You only get free tax and free food. If you won't go to work for any reasons (sick, school, car trouble etc.), you won't have money. I know because I worked in the restaurant before, it was good job to earn extra money for school.
Anyway, most of Thai student don't care about this benefit because they only here to study and only want to earn money for school. Besides, they can't use any benefit from US gorvenment because they don't have legal paper to work (and don't pay tax).
Anyway, Merry Christmas ka everyone!!! Which all your wishes come true na ka...XOXOXO
