Spial Cord is one part of Central Nevous System(or CNS) per from brain and is enclosed in vertebra. It is about 43-45 cm long. The Spinal Cord consists of 31 segments(8 cervical, 12 thoracic, 5 lumbar, 5 sacral and 1 coccygeal). If you cross section all 31 segment, you can see it consist of two parts is Gray Matter and White. The Gray Matter looks like an "H" or butterfly and the White Matter is all around Gray Matter. It's containing sensoey and motor beurons. Sensory and motor neurons are transfer feeling between narve and organs(nerve to organs or organs to nerve).
