There will be words that no matter what you do, you still can't commit them to your memory... Such word of mine is "misgiving." In such case, there's nothing else you can do, I think... Repititious exposures wouldn't help. For other words, I can't remember them without relying the old method of learning vocab: remember a list of words (the way we were usually taught when young). Many posters deter this method, but it somehow works for me.
