I think all ordinary people subconsciously look down on others, although we don't want this type of thought to occur.
Deliberately, I used to look down on people with non-farang accent, and same as you, once I have seen more of the world, I felt ashamed and knew I was just an arrogant frog. Trying to speak like a farang, that was all I ever wanted; and wIthout practicing writing, reading and analytical skills, soon I felt shallow and unfulfilled.
Now i only look at English like an art to fulfill my soul, not a trophy to show off.

I mean both. i've found it easier with sentences composed of long words, for example "Surprisingly, this expensive chocolate-colored vehicle needs low maintenance" to produce a farang accent because once I pronounce the words correctly, then the accent will come like you said, more or less. But if I have to say sth. easy like, "I like playing hide-and-seek with my son", or" I am going to buy some fruits", then it's harder for me, I have to concentrate more about the accent.

ดิฉันก็อยากจะให้ลูกเข้าอยู่ แต่พอดูราคาแล้วก็เห็นว่าคงจะไม่ไหว อาจต้องขายบ้าน ขายวัวขายควาย เพื่อส่งเสียลูก ประกอบกับกลัวลูกจะอ่อนภาษาไทยด้วย ไม่ทราบว่าคุณสอนอยู่ที่รร นานาชาติหรือเปล่าคะ เค้ามีวิชาภาษาไทยแบบลงลึกไหมคะ คือไม่ใช่แค่อ่านออกเขียนได้หนะค่ะ
