In my point of view, I would have the university choose my roommate rather than do it myself.
First, the university has the information of all students such as their nationality, religious, major in which they are studying, etc.
Therefore, the university will know how to properly select a student to share a room with another student.
Second, it is not significant for me to choose a roommate myself because I could be friends with anyone. I am here not only to learn
the subjects that the university provides for me but also learn how to live with other people. It is a good opportunity to know a student
coming from a different culture, lifestyle and language so that we can share our various experiences and perspectives. Furthermore, I can learn how he thinks and feels in a particular situation, how he lives his life and how to constructively adapt his ideas and strengths to become mine.
Third, students who select a roommate themselves tend to choose students who have something similar to them such as nationality,
religious and especially language so that they do not need to adapt themselves too much to live in a new social environment and can keep living in their monotonous life. The consequential outcome is that they will never learn any things new which could be beneficial to them in the future after they graduate from the university.
Since there are so many advantages. Wouldn't be better to add more colors to your life?
