Does modern technology make life more convenient, or was life better when technology was simple?
Technology has been progressing and developing rapidly for about 20 years latest. People receive a lot of benefits from its conveniences, for example, the new versions of computer programs have been launched every year, both luxurious and complex function of mobile phone have been popular among teenagers and also adults. Although modern devices are designed and produced to make our lives easier, many people have been facing some troubles from them. In contrast, ordinary machines or equipments that we have been using before the new one are easier to use, inexpensive and less problems.
There are many advantages of using simple devices. First of all, their functions are not too difficult to understand by every generation, both children and the ages. For example, my mother prefers to use the simple mobile phone which contains easy function, just call, receive call, send messages and other plain functions because it is enough in her work and her life. It is not necessary to use internet on mobile phone, indeed we can surf internet in our offices, schools or home, not all the time. Second, the simple technology device is much cheaper than the modern one because we do not have to pay for its modern, brand, design, exceeded functions and particularly the advertising. For example, the computer notebook which contains the latest version window and modern design is about 60,000 70,000 Baht, while the normal one with no prime-time advertisement and no have popular name is just 25,000 35,000 Baht. Using only the functions needed, it is undoubtedly reasonable to choose the low-prices one. Finally, the more function devices can cause more troubles. For example, my friend, a telephone seller, told me that the touch screen phone are tend to be out of control faster and the telephone which connect to internet can be malfunction because of viruses.
Although the new technology aims to provide us conveniences, we have to think consciously when we decide to buy the new devices. It is important to consider its quality and the usefulness that suit our daily lives, not the brand or following the trend. Would it be better to buy the easy function and good quality devices with only low prices?
