I've written some articles for a translation workshop. One of them happens to be about absolute construction. Here it is:
Absolute construction: absolute construction นับว่าเป็น structure ที่นักเขียนฝรั่งใช้กันบ่อยมากๆ เนื่องจากเป็นการรวบรวม ideas ต่างๆอย่างเป็นเหตุและผลที่สืบเนื่องกันไว้ในประโยค ทำให้ได้ประโยคที่สวยงาม กระทัดรัด ไม่รุ่มร่าม
จากการ edit หนังสือแปล บรรณาธิการต้นฉบับมักจะพบว่านักแปลที่แปลเรียงตัวคำศัพท์มาแบบ word for word มักจะลงเอยด้วยประโยคภาษาไทยที่
"คำศัพท์หลงทาง"
ซึ่งจริงๆแล้วถ้านักแปล "ตระหนัก" ว่า ใน structure แบบนี้ จะมี if/then หรือ cause and effect อยู่ตรงไหน ก็จะทำให้แปลและเรียบเรียงประโยคภาษาไทยได้ดีกว่าเดิม
