I downloaded a lot of video clips too. After a while I found that my Windows Media Player could no longer play some of those video clips due to codec problem. So, I tried to update my Windows Media Player at Microsoft website, but it kicked me out because I use pirated Windows XP SP3. After that I tried to update my codecs by other methods. I found K-Lite Codec Pack at this site:
http://www.codecguide.com/
I downloaded the program. The program itself is capable of playing video clips of many formats, including *.flv files. After installation, this program also updated my Windows Media Player and enabled it to support many video formats, including the *.flv.
Later, I learned how to hack my Windows XP SP3. I managed to fool Microsoft website into thinking that my Windows XP SP3 is a genuine product, so I updated my system and many other applications successfully.
Now, I have Windows XP SP3 May 2009 updates, which include the new version of Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player and Microsoft Office 2007 updates.
No matter which version of Windows you guys use, I strongly recommend the K-Lite Codec Pack. It can handle video and subtitles of many formats.
