Firstly, you are born as a result of sexual intercourse.
Therefore, it means that 'sex' is important for human race, no matter what culture they belong to.
The point is that how 'sexuality is interpreted' is different accordingly to the ways in which values, identity and signification are produced in different culture.
In many western countries, it is widely acknowledged that there is nothing wrong with having sex before marriage.
A lot of parents in western culture can stand seeing their kids bring their girlfriend or boyfriend to stay a night at one's bedroom.
Obviously, the parents in western culture seem to accept that there's nothing wrong with that.
So that's the way 'sex' is all around in western culture.
-------
At the mean time, in Thai culure, 'an educated lady' is not supposed to sleep around.
Even though, the fact that people in Thai culture do have sexual relationship before marriage, it is not as open as, or as widely accepted as in that of western culture. So, up to this moment, a lot of Thai parents might not like it if they find out that their kids, especially girls, sleep around.
However, it's true that some Thai girls have to sleep around. In this case a lot of them reluctantly do it for a living because of economic pressure.
