เราเรียนประวัติศาสตร์มา ไม่เคยได้ยินเลยค่ะ เรียนมาแต่ว่าพระองค์ทรงอุปถัมภ์หลายศาสนา รวมทั้งศาสนาคริสต์ในกรุงศรีอยุธยาเท่านั้น และเคยเรียนมาว่ามีคนพยายามจะชวนพระองค์เข้ารีต แต่พระองค์ไม่ทรงตกลงค่ะ
ในจดหมายเหตุวันวลิต (Van Vliet) ก็ไม่ได้กล่าวว่าพระองค์นับถือศาสนาคริสต์นะคะ เราขอยกข้อความที่วันวลิตเขียนถึงรัชกาลพระองค์หมดเลยนะคะ ดังนี้
"Phra Chaiyaracha, Fourteenth King of Siam, Ruled Thirteen Years.
The previously mentioned regent was crowned king (when he was thirty-five years old) with the concurrence of all the mandarins. He was named Phra Chaiyaracha. This king was very merciful, wise, and pious. He waged war often with Cambodia and was victorious. He was soft and steadfast in his rule. A lover of good justice, he was not quick to punish but had all wrongdoers properly examined. He had no time for flatterers or evilmongers. He performed many good works for the religious and the poor. He built and improved many temples and residences of the religious. Among others, His Majesty built the large and marvelous temple Phra Chi Chiang, about which a lot can be written. In order not to get off the subject, however, only as many stories as are reasonable and are relevant will be told. Returning once again to the rest of the story that the king was loved by and familiar with everyone, he removed from his land the fraudulent practice of small or false weights and measures. Rice and all foods could only be sold by large, signed tsioupen or measures. His Majesty experienced a fruitful and fortunate time. He had a rich and prosperous community. Toward the end of his life the king went with a powerful army to the borders of Cambodia and captured the city of Lamphun. On his return home he died of natural causes, having reigned thirteen years."
จบแค่นี้ค่ะ พระองค์สร้างวัดพุทธด้วยนะคะ คนคริสต์สร้างวัดของศาสนาอื่นได้ไหม ถ้าไม่ได้ พระองค์น่าจะเป็นพุทธนะคะ แต่อุปถัมภ์ทุกศาสนา
อีกคนคือ Pinto ชาวโปรตุเกสกล่าวถึงพระองค์ว่า
"This prince lived in the reputation of being charitable to the poor, liberal in his benefits and recompenses, pitiful and gentle towards everyone, and above all incorrupt in doing of justice and chastening the wicked; his subjects spoke so amply thereof in their lamentations, as if all that they said of it was true; we are to believe that there never was a better King than he, either amongst these Pagans, or in all the countries of the world.''
อ้อ พระองค์ก็เป็นองค์เดียวกับองค์ที่เป็นสวามีท้าวศรีสุดาจันทร์ไงคะ ถ้าทรงเป็นคริสต์ ในหนังสือหรือในภาพยนตร์ทำไมไม่กล่าวถึงเลย ถ้าเจออะไรอีกจะมาเพิ่มเติมนะคะ
