รบกวนช่วยวิจารณ์ว่า งานชิ้นนี้เป็น Descriptive essay ที่ดีหรือไม่
(ส่วนตัว เราคิดว่ามันก้ำกึ่งระหว่าง Narrative/ Classification/ Descriptive)
และช่วยแนะนำสิ่งที่ควรปรับปรุงแก้ไขด้วยค่ะ
ขอบคุณมากค่ะ

Downtown Life

Siam Square area will probably be one of the first locations that pop in your mind when you think about downtown life. The most luxurious place of all is Siam Paragon. If you have never been there before, you would probably picture rich people sitting comfortably at a grand restaurant’s tables, drinking champagne all day. However; it is not actually always like that. This place has different moments which can be divided into three periods: in the morning, in the afternoon, and in the evening.

In the morning, this place is like a ghost town for the upper class; nearly empty but still fancy-looking. There are very few people and you will not quite see the employees working either. It is also as quiet as the grave; you can literally hear the sound of your footsteps echoing around the place. Nonetheless, ones who like peace will enjoy this. Shiny tiled pathways and well-appointed restrooms smell so new, indicating how clean the place is. Moreover, if you breathe deeply enough, you can almost sense the sweet taste of coolant from the air conditioning system. It is hard to believe that this mall is a shopping center.

In the afternoon, this place turns into exactly how a famous shopping mall should be like; crowded and noisy, especially at the food court which is understandable since it is lunch time. Shoppers, workers, teens, the rich, the semi-rich in multicolored clothing are all over the place. They relax and talk so aloud that you might hear their whole dialogues and kind of feel like you have unintentionally bonded already. Every floor has its own scents, cheese-syrup-salt-popcorn smell on the highest floor where movie theaters are located, for example. The atmosphere is highly vivid and everything seems exciting in bright fluorescent lights. Therefore, this time is definitely proper for friendly gatherings.

In the evening, this place is insanely overpopulated like in some wild house party of university students in a B-grade horror film, but without nudity or screams. It is like a safe place after evacuation and annoyingly, you will bump into something or someone all the time. It is the loudest time of day; you cannot hear yourself think, and you might have to shout at each other as if you are having a fight, in order to make a conversation. Zillion odors from Chanel Number Five to frowsty feet after a long day of walking mixed together can be really giddy. Those smells are so strong that you might detect their sources through your nostrils and taste them indirectly even you do not want to. Heat and steam from machines and human bodies combined can almost be objective that you can touch. If you do not like these circumstances, avoid the evening life.

Apparently, downtown life, or in this case, life at Siam Paragon, does not stay deluxe at all hours as you might think. The mall is flamboyant, yes, but life, not so much. You can never know or understand other people’s lives and even if you see them in this place, it does not mean that they are all wealthy and graceful. Downtown life is just like every life there is; sometimes it is well-blended, sometimes not.
